The watchdog pages are free to read. Figures citizens use to hold government to account are not behind a paywall. Some detailed API extracts may carry a small automated fee so we can keep the public pages online.

Is this a charity product?
No. CivicNZ is an independent, non-partisan watchdog for public money and official outcomes. Charity-register tools are not the product described here.
Where does the data come from?
Official New Zealand sources only — Stats NZ, Treasury, Te Kawa Mataaho, GETS / MBIE, Health NZ, MSD and other public releases. Each figure links to its source.
Who pays for it?
The public pages stay free. Optional support and metered API access help cover hosting. We do not sell premium scorecards or paywalled department grades.
