We publish corrections
The charter promises a public log when a live figure, verdict or method was wrong. Entries are dated. They name what the page showed, what the primary source says, and which pages changed. Email hello@civicnz.org if you spot another error.

GETS dates still month/day on first #49 deploy; roster listed 50 not 51
- What we showed
- After #49, RFx 32443782 still showed Closing 10 Jun 2025 / award 6 Dec 2026 because stored columns were month/day and raw CSV keys did not always match. The departments list had 50 rows while copy said 51 — Ministry for Ethnic Communities was missing from the live table.
- What is right
- Display and boot repair reverse ambiguous month/day GETS dates (open 5 Sep 2025, close 6 Oct 2025, awarded 12 Jun 2026 on that notice). Missing current public-service agencies are inserted from the sourced roster so the list is 37 + extras = 51. Leftover 0–100 score_performance alerts are not public. Defunct MfE is off the VfM roster with HUD.

Watchdog leftovers: HUD, empty OIA, /leaderboard slug, charity copy
- What we showed
- VfM still listed defunct HUD; /government/oia was a public page of zeros; GET /government/value-for-money/leaderboard treated “leaderboard” as a department; Terms, search, nav and Feedback still read as a charity product.
- What is right
- HUD is ineligible (MCERT Order 2026). Empty OIA 404s until oia_public_count > 0. /leaderboard is a dedicated path. Public copy is the watchdog: $0 to read, not a charity ranking.

GETS close and award dates used month/day parsing
- What we showed
- RFx 32443782 “Residential Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment” showed Closing 10 Jun 2025 and award_date 2026-12-06. GETS prints open 5 Sep 2025, close 6 Oct 2025, award 12 Jun 2026. About 108 notices had future award dates from the same swap.
- What is right
- GETS CSV dates are day/month/year. The notice is Awarded 12 Jun 2026, closed 6 Oct 2025. Future dates are not shown as facts. Disclosed GETS FY spend and all-years disclosed value are labelled separately and are not Vote procurement.

Agency roster said 51 and 57 at once
- What we showed
- Government tile “Current agencies 51” next to departments “57 current central-government agencies”, from duplicate GETS names (two Kāinga Ora rows, Corrections vs Department of Corrections).
- What is right
- 37 public service agencies (Te Kawa Mataaho Schedule 2 as at 3 August 2026) + CivicNZ extras = 51. Duplicate posting names collapse to one roster row.

MoH 2.7σ spending spike and MSD 54% of 24 vs VfM 10/15
- What we showed
- Watchdog alerts listed a Ministry of Health spending spike ($33.03B vs $28.02B, 2.7σ) and “MSD met 54% of 24 quantified targets” next to vfm-2.0’s sourced 10 of 15 on Annual Report 2025 p.18.
- What is right
- σ-spike alerts are frozen until the series is one official Vote, CPI-stated and sourced (Vote Health 2025/26 is $31,052m). MSD’s public X-of-Y is the vfm-2.0 pack, 10 of 15. The SPE classifier (54% of 24) is unpublished — /government/effectiveness 404s.

500 police marked broken while the annual report was unread
- What we showed
- NZ First “train 500 new frontline police” was Broken on net FTE 10,285 vs 10,711, while the quote is training and Police Annual Report 2025/26 had not been transcribed.
- What is right
- Unverified pending Police Annual Report 2025/26. Budget work is in progress. CivicNZ does not claim 500 officers were not trained — that flow is unpublished.

Index domain scores were on the homepage
- What we showed
- Housing 38.6 / Worse and Safety 41.2 / Worse in “Five areas at a glance”, next to real desk verdicts.
- What is right
- Homepage tiles now show the desk verdict, or Insufficient where there is no desk. Index 0–100 domain scores are not a national headline.

Production /index still scored interpolated series
- What we showed
- Composite 43.4; emergency housing 2,227.5 households; public housing register 25,440; ED 71.2%; FSA 35.6%; elective 11.3%; Safety victimisations 56.25. Methods said those curves were removed.
- What is right
- Only official observed points are scored. Latest MSD emergency housing is 441 households and the register is 23,997 applications at 31 August 2026. Health waits and immunisation use Health NZ Q4 2025/26 (ED 76.3%, FSA 66.1%, elective 72.6%, immunisation 83.7%). Series the methods table marks Excluded are missing, not scored.

Index life satisfaction said Worse while the desk said Flat
- What we showed
- Index indicator wellbeing.life_satisfaction trend Worsening on 7.6 versus 7.7. The wellbeing desk followed Stats NZ “similar” and said Flat.
- What is right
- One rule: official significance first. Mean life satisfaction 7.6 is similar to 7.7 in 2021, so both surfaces say Flat.

Mental health topic said Better on an Insufficient distress series
- What we showed
- Topic badge Better while the displayed figure was NZHS high/very high psychological distress 14.3%, which the engine itself marked Insufficient (sparse endpoints). Suicide sub-series drove the majority.
- What is right
- If the displayed primary series is Insufficient, the topic is Insufficient. Suicide remains on its own indicator card.

HLPI headline used “up from 2.1% in 2026”
- What we showed
- “The annual rise in household living costs is 3.2%, up from 2.1% in 2026.” 2.1% is the March 2026 sequential annual rate, labelled as if it were the same year-on-year pair.
- What is right
- Same-quarter year-on-year is 2.6% in the year to June 2025 → 3.2% in the year to June 2026 (Stats NZ HLPI June 2026). Month labels replace “(2026 → 2026)” on short rent and QSDEP windows.

Leftover vfm-1.0 department league scores
- What we showed
- Department of Conservation 57, Corrections 42, Internal Affairs 45, IRD 65.66 still rendered as a 0–100 league with Financial / Procurement / Workforce bars after vfm-1.0 was withdrawn.
- What is right
- Those scores are labelled withdrawn. The public scorecard is vfm-2.0.
